As a brand new player and a brand new storyteller, this book is great and so helpful! It explains all the important lore in a very digestable way (a vampire explaining the kindred world to a human), whereas the corebooks can get a little overwhelming. And if you're more into the lore rather than the mechanics, this is also great because it focuses on the world and the vampires in it. I can't reccomend it enough for other people new to the franchise.

If you are running 'Vampire: the Masquerade', this is the book for your players. I've used this often by giving it to newer players and letting them explore the book at their own pace. It has a lot of the information from the main rulebook, without the rules getting in the way. It gives a comprehensive overview of Kindred society, the Traditions, the Court positions and their history. At $2.99 a copy, I'd recommend that everyone at your table buy a copy - no matter how much they might think they know about Vampire. Every time I read this it reminds me of something that has slipped my mind.

This is a nice little book for Vampire: The Masquerade that covers the basics of the setting and concepts of vampires as presented in the game. It also includes some decent short fiction. One of the better parts of the book is Mark Rein-Hagen's intro which is nice because you get to read the thoughts of the originator of White Wolf's vampire dynasty. It's not a game book however, there is no crunchy bits or anything and if you have the second edition corebook you've pretty much got the clan/background info (including art) contained in this book. I got it pretty much for the fiction and the intro. The rating reflects the fact that it may not be of much use to anyone who already has the VtM corebook. Really, it was a tie-in the the TV show. Your remember the TV show, right?
